Gandhi To Hitler Movie Review By Taran Adarsh

Gandhi To Hitler Movie Review By Taran Adarsh
Gandhi To Hitler Movie Review By Taran Adarsh

Years after his death, Adolf Hitler has been kept alive and breathing by movie makers across the globe. Many a film-maker has made a film on the German leader, who was responsible for World War II. In fact, the Second World War and Hitler have been fascinating subjects through the decades, with a number of international projects depicting the atrocities committed by the dictator.

Though there have been many films on Mahatma Gandhi, including the Academy Award winning GANDHI, GANDHI TO HITLER is the first Hindi film that attempts to tell the story of the Nazi leader on celluloid. It portrays his final days, hiding in a bunker in Berlin after his downfall. Director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar also portrays the relationship that he shared with his associates, his paranoia, his insecurities during those days.

While Hitler was taking on the world, Mahatma Gandhi had penned two letters to the dictator to reconsider his political decisions. Also, though volumes have been written about Hitler, one knows very little about Eva Braun, his longtime companion whom Hitler married in his final days. There's also a story of Indian soldiers fighting with the Russians on German soil running concurrently in the film.

Though the film focuses on Hitler and Mahatma Gandhi, two contrasting ideologies that changed the course of history in that era, GANDHI TO HITLER is no war film. Nonetheless, the director has used B & W documentary footage of World War II all through the film. Though the film could've documented a reality most effectively, mainly for those who are keen to know what actually occurred in the final days, not just in India but also internationally, the film comes across as an amateur attempt that leaves zilch impact.

One of the reasons why one doesn't relate to the on-screen characters is because Indian actors have been cast in the roles of Hitler and his associates and also French and Russian soldiers, which, in my opinion, makes it look counterfeit. Besides, the director intercuts Mahatma Gandhi preaching non-violence and Hitler stomping around in his bunker rather abruptly, besides, of course, a story of Indian soldiers fighting on German soil. It just doesn't work!

World War II. Adolf Hitler's ruthless ambition for German expansion is becoming increasingly violent and inhuman. Whereas another nation, India, struggles in its fight for freedom against the British as Mahatma Gandhi continues to appeal to his countrymen to adopt a stand of non-violence. A stark contrast in ideologies. Mahatma Gandhi, one day, decides to pen a letter to the German dictator... a letter he hoped would persuade Hitler to change his path and avoid the Second World War, avoid the massive calamity that it would bring on.

Mahatma Gandhi then wrote a second letter to Hitler, this time closer to Hitler's own downfall, at a time when Hitler was plagued with betrayal all around him, while confined to an underground bunker. The film looks at Hitler's downfall, his last days when only his love Eva Braun and his trusted aide Joseph Goebbels stood by him, as Germany crumbled around him and his devoted comrades deserted him.

Though the intentions of GANDHI TO HITLER are right -- it spreads the message of peace, which is so relevant in today's context when the world continues to tackle the dark clouds of terrorism -- the execution of the subject is so amateurish that it leaves you distraught. After a messed up first hour, the film tries to find rhythm and focus in its post-interval portions, but barring a scene or two, it doesn't register an impact like the way the Academy Award nominated film DOWNFALL [2004] did. The only thing that stands out in the film is the cinematography by Fuwad Khan.

Raghuvir Yadav fails to look his part and seems uncomfortable while mouthing lines in English. Neha Dhupia doesn't get any opportunity to display histrionics. Aman Verma is at best decent, while Lucky Vakharia is strictly okay. Nalin Singh, Nikita Anand, Bhupesh Kumar Pandey and Avijit Dutt [as Mahatma Gandhi] are alright.

On the whole, GANDHI TO HITLER fails to connect.

Sanjay Dutt as Kancha Still From Upcoming Movie Agneepath

What better way to celebrate a friend's birthday than having his look in your film revealed the world over? Well the makers of the Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt starrer Agneepath have done just that for Sanju.

Dutt, who plays the new age Kancha in the film, is complete with his bald look, chunky ear piercing, black outfit, and that evil smile with a ready to kill look in his eye. Looking at Dutt, we cant help feel that he's the new age 'Dark Lord' of Hindi cinema.

With his new look (which is bound to be the talk of the town), we feel that the likes of Gabbar and Mogambo can now go take a walk and simply pave way for Kancha, the new age 'Dark Lord'!

Cinema is all about narrating fascinating stories and if a story doesn't keep your attention arrested in that time span, the entire exercise and effort falls flat. Actually, the promotions of BUBBLE GUM never really caught my attention. One of the reasons could be that the flow of films is unstoppable and generally, one tends to notice films that star heavy-weights instantly, while a film starring new faces gets relegated to the backseat. But, sometimes, those 'small films' have better stories to tell than the big-budget extravaganzas that ride on star power solely. BUBBLE GUM, directed by Sanjivan Lal, is a prime example of this statement.

Bollywood has had its share of early teen love stories like EK CHOTI SI LOVE STORY, MP3 - MERA PEHLA PEHLA PYAAR and TERE SANG in the past. However, one has also heard of people lamenting that they missed their childhood, their first crush [which seems like infatuation today], sibling rivalry et al. BUBBLE GUM is all about this and more!

What really catches your attention here is the effortlessness with which the director tells a scrumptiously unusual tale. The beauty of the film lies in the fact that the incidents are very relatable and come across as if the story or occurrences were straight out of our lives. I am sure, those watching the film would be bound to say, yeh to apni kahani thi. Also, it's unpretentious and heart-warming. Besides, this coming-of-age story is sensitively told -- it's funny, has its share of dramatic and tense moments and of course, is rich in emotions.

A film like BUBBLE GUM also takes you back to those years when Facebook, Twitter, internet, TV and cell phones didn't exist. Sure, a film like BUBBLE GUM will not set the box-office ablaze, but a genuine effort needs to be encouraged. A pat on the back is the least we can do, so that it inspires more film-makers like Sanjivan Lal to keep the magic of cinema alive.

BUBBLE GUM is set in Jamshedpur in the 1970s/1980s. A story of coming of age of Vedant [Delzad], who has a crush on Jenny. Subsequently, the relationship with his parents [Sachin Khedekar, Tanvi Azmi] and also brother Vidur [Sohail] undergoes a turbulent phase, sending his world upside down. He discovers the true meaning of love and life subsequently.

A film like BUBBLE GUM transports you back to your childhood and the director, actually, does that. The difficult phase while one is stepping into teenage and the problems one encounters then -- however trivial they may appear today -- seemed so enormous then. One cannot go back in time, but films like BUBBLE GUM make you recall those years with a lot of love and positivity.

Director Sanjivan Lal deserves kudos for not just choosing a refreshingly novel story, but also casting actors who, let me put it honestly, bowl you over with their spontaneous portrayals. The young actors in the film, especially the brothers [enacted brilliantly by Sohail and Delzad], deliver endearing performances. Ditto for the kids who enact the parts of Ratan, the 'kabab mein haddi', Partho, the mischief maker and Jenny, the sweetheart of Delzad. It is evident that the kids have walked into their parts without any pre-conceived notions about acting. Also, I am sure, they must have bonded well, which is why the on-screen chemistry comes alive.

The parents are portrayed wonderfully by Tanvi Azmi and Sachin Khedekar. Tanvi is a complete natural, enacting her part with admirable ease, while Khedekar is first-rate.

On the whole, BUBBLE GUM has its heart in the right place. A film that arrives with zilch expectations, but succeeds in taking you back in time when life was simpler and sweet. Recommended!

Kareena Kapoor Opposite Akshay Kumar In Sequel Of Movie Upon A Time In Mumbaai

Post the success of the film Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, Balaji was gung ho on making a sequel to the film. The scale of the film got even bigger when they roped in Akshay Kumar to play the lead role of the Mumbai don in the film.

Though much of the initial production was locked, not much was spoken about the leading actress of the film. With names being thrown in by the media, it was confusion galore.

Well now, the dust has settled and Kareena Kapoor has been signed for the film. The Kapoor damsel is all set to play the lead opposite Akshay Kumar in Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2.

Kareena has allotted dates for Milan Luthria's OUATIM sequel starting January 20 which will spill over to February and March too.

What's the latest on the remake of ANGOOR, which is expected to star Shah Rukh Khan [in the role essayed by Sanjeev Kumar] and directed by Rohit Shetty? Well, the rumor mills are agog with the news that Rohit is keen to start the film now that SINGHAM has released. "Well, I have had meetings with Shah Rukh, but till we finalize the script, we won't go ahead with it," Rohit clarifies.

There's talk that Rohit is also planning a project with Ranbir Kapoor. "That the latest rumor doing the rounds [smiles]. We haven't discussed a film project, so the question of starting a film just doesn't arise," he reveals. Meanwhile, Rohit has started BOL BACHCHAN, a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's GOLMAAL, starring dear friend Ajay Devgn and Abhishek Bachchan in lead roles. Though the film is based in North India, a good chunk of the movie will be filmed in Rohit's fav destination -- Goa.

Katrina Kaif Will Dance on Item Song Aaya Re Aaya Bodyguard With Salman Khan

'Aaya Re Aaya Bodyguard'....that's the item song which Katrina would be joyously gyrating to in Bodyguard. Even as Katrina gears up for the challenge of outdoing her 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' number she has a bigger challenge to meet up to.

Salman Khan aka the King Of All He Surveys, will also be part of the song. Apparently, he reasoned that since the song is about his character, Bodyguard ka hona to haq banta hai, boss. Now Ganesh Acharya has been asked to incorporate Salman into Katrina's elaborate item number.

Apparently, Salman wants the number structured like 'Sheila Ki Jawaani' where Akshay Kumar joins Katrina. That is easier said than done.

Says a source, "Salman likes to do his own thing in the dance numbers. Everyone knows in 'Munni Badnaam' he didn't follow Farah Khan's instructions. Katrina will be rigorously rehearsing her steps for 'Aaya Re Aaya Bodyguard'. She wants it to be as perfect as 'Sheila Ki Jawaani'. Salman's improvisations are bound to distract her. But the there is not much she can do about it. Because as Salman pointed out the song is about him, so he has to be part of it."

Bodyguard producer Atul Agnihotri confirms that Salman would be part of Katrina's item number.

Delhi Belly Movie New Diluted version For Television Viewers

DELHI BELLY may be talked about for various reasons, including the colorful language used by the characters in this film, but television viewers will see a diluted version of the film, when it premieres on TV in the near future. In fact, the actors of the film, including the principal cast, have already dubbed their lines for the TV version of the film. "That's true," DELHI BELLY director Abhinay Deo informs me, "You can keep a check on audiences when they visit theatres. But can you hold back kids from watching a film when it's aired on TV? That's why we decided to go easy on the dialogue of the film and get them dubbed all over again."

Incidentally, not many are aware that Aamir was keen on dubbing this Hinglish film in four Indian languages -- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Bhojpuri. While the film was dubbed in Hindi, the plans to dub in Tamil and Telugu were aborted subsequently, since Aamir's friends associated with the South industry informed him that the Hinglish version would suffice. "But the plans of not dubbing the film in Bhojpuri remains a mystery," Abhinay states.

Sanjay Dutt Still upset with Salman Khan ??

Sanjay Dutt Still upset with Salman Khan ??
Sanjay Dutt Still upset with Salman Khan ??

Last night Sanjay Dutt invited Shah Rukh Khan to his home! Looks like Sanju and Sallu's patch-up is just a facade

It seems there's much more to the verbal duel and ceasefire that happened between B-Town's 'good friends' Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan at Maanayata Dutt's birthday bash on Thursday.

Apparently, Sanju is still extremely upset with Sallu.

And to show the Dabaang star that he hasn't forgiven him, Dutt hosted a get-together for Shah Rukh Khan at his house on Sunday night.

"Hrithik Roshan and Arjun Rampal were also invited for it," divulges a close friend of Dutt. "And Salman had no clue about it."

A source, who was present when the Thursday incident happened, says, "Salman wasn't invited for the party in the first place.

In fact, Sanju was talking to their common friend, Prashant, to invite him. But when Prashant told him that he was with Salman who was asking why he wasn't invited, Sanju asked Sallu to come over, too."

Apparently, Salman was quite inebriated when he sauntered in with Zarine Khan.

Apart from expressing his disappointment at Sanjay's refusal to play his father in Bodyguard, Salman, it is learnt, was also curt to Maanayata.

"Sallu told her that he won't address her as bhabhi, but by her name," says the source, adding that Sanju got angry with the way Salman was talking to his wife.

Further, Salman was also rude to Kumar Gaurav. Our source recalls, "Salman told Kumar Gaurav that he had launched new girls into stardom.

So he could even give a hit debut to his daughter Saachi. Before things got
real ugly, Prashant and Rohit Jugraj escorted him out."

Even after the party ended, Sanjay was so angry that he wanted to opt out of Bigg Boss which they are co-hosting. Later, on Friday, when Salman heard about it, he called Sanjay to apologise.

"Even though the deal was signed, it took a lot for Sanjay to not walk out of the show. Moreover it was Salman who had suggested that he and Sanju host the show together," informs our source.

According to a unit member from the promo shoot at Film City, the atmosphere was tense till afternoon. "However, when Sanju gave Salman a hug, everyone in the unit heaved a sigh of relief."

Meanwhile efforts are on to make everything look hunky-dory between the two stars, but that is not the case it seems. "Sanju is keeping his calm only for the sake of the shows" says the source.

Kareena Kapoor Chameli look wax statue at Madame Tussauds

We had informed you that the latest Bollywood celeb to be joining the wax works at Madame Tussauds is Kareena Kapoor. Well, the leggy damsel will now be seen in her Chameli look at the museum.

For her wax statue, various looks were discussed, however the maximum number of votes went to Kareena's look in her film Chameli, for which she won many awards. Besides, the museum wanted her wax statue to appear in Indian wear. Hence, her Chameli look was finalised.

Kareena's look in the film was designed by Manish Malhotra and executive producer Rangita Nandy, who scoured the streets of Mumbai to get the look of a sex worker down pat. With this, we guess Manish's work will last forever along side Kareena.

Just last week announced Ajay Devgn would be starring in Ashwni Dhir's next. The news is now confirmed and the film is titled SOS- Son Of Sardar. The film will star Sonakshi Sinha in lead opposite Ajay.

There is however a small problem as the title that the makers are looking for is currently registered under Akshay Kumar's production house Hari Om Entertainment. Reportedly, Akshay already has a complete the script for his film under the same title and is currently in the process of finalising the rest of the details.

Akshay Kumar on Vacation For 40 days

Akshay Kumar on Vacation For 40 days
Akshay Kumar on Vacation For 40 days

Akshay Kumar has been untraceable for more than a week now. Last heard, even some of his close friends and associates were unaware about his movements before it was revealed that the man has actually taken off for a 40 day family vacation. Accused of working in multiple back to back films, a move like this did surprise a few since Akshay currently has three films on floors and two waiting to kick-start post his arrival.

"After wrapping up major portions of Housefull 2 and Joker and almost finishing Desi Boyz, Akshay is now enjoying his summer break. He does that every year", informs a little birdie, "Before his newer lot of films like Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2 and Rowdy Rathore go on floors, he wants to come back rejuvenated."

Last heard, he has already made a whirlwind trip to Frankfurt and Toronto which he treats like his other home outside Mumbai. While accompanied by wife Twinkle and son Aarav, he also paid a four days visit to Rome. Though he was in Mumbai for a couple of days in between for a quick detour, he then headed to Beijing for next leg of his holiday.

"Though Akshay is being dubbed as someone who works 24X7, the fact is that this is far from being true. He actually makes it a point to spend time with his family for an uninterrupted extended duration. He also makes sure that there are no business calls or meetings during these 40 days", says a close family friend, "In fact he is a firm believer of this thought that the best education comes from visiting places instead of just flipping through pages of text books. This is the reason why he encourages his son to be an outdoors person."

Guess some kids have all the luck. Now with his doting dad opening the global map right in front of him, Aarav has already pointed in the direction of Hong Kong and other cities located in the Far East countries.

"Yes, Akshay's family would be heading from Beijing to Hong Kong and then perhaps hop over to a couple of other cities as well before returning to India. The final stop-over would be at Goa where Akshay has his own private property at the Anjuna beach. Once everyone is relaxed, it would be back to work for Akshay", the friend informs.

n Ready, it was Zarine Khan who heated up the screens with her scintillating performance in 'Character Dheela' along with Salman Khan. And now for his next film Bodyguard, Salman's former flame Katrina Kaif will be heating up the scene.

Katrina won't just be doing an ordinary cameo in Bodyguard. Instead, Kaif is all set to sizzle in a grand item number that will play during the opening credits of the film.

It is said that Salman was so impressed with success of 'Sheila Ki Jawaani', that he requested Katrina to be a part of the opening-credits of the film. The item song in question for the opening credits will be composed by Himesh Reshammiya and Ganesh Acharya will choreograph the song.

If that wasn't enough, we also hear that the item number will be on the lines of James Bond's opening credits.

The song will be shot on July 26.

Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt have shared screen space in films such as Saajan, Chal Mere Bhai and recently were even seen together in a shot in Ready. Now the duo will be seen together on the small screen hosting the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss 5'.

While Salman was the host of 'Bigg Boss 4' earlier, this is the first time Sanjay Dutt would be seen hosting the reality show. While it is yet uncertain whether Sanju Baba will be co-hosting the entire season along with Salman, one thing is for sure, the audiences won't complain even if they get to see the duo create magic on the small screen for a few episodes.

Singham Movie Review By Taran Adarsh

Singham Movie Review By Taran Adarsh
Singham Movie Review By Taran Adarsh

The trend of atypical masala entertainers began all over again with WANTED, which was effectively emulated by the super-successful DABANGG. The larger-than-life hero knocks down 50 thugs and sends them flying in the air with just one punch. He romances the heroine. Puts his life at stake by catching the bull by the horns. Emerges victorious in the finale... Come to think of it, the Indian audience is starved for true-blue masala entertainers that were admired and revered in the 1970s and 1980s. Oh, can we ever forget the serpentine queues outside cinema halls to watch those movies, starring our fav stars? With SINGHAM, the Ajay Devgn - Rohit Shetty team goes back to their roots; both started with action films, if you recall -- PHOOL AUR KAANTE and ZAMEEN, respectively. SINGHAM is one of those earthy, traditional, uncomplicated masala movies that most of us grew up on. The protagonist of SINGHAM is not the desi version of James Bond, nor is he any kind of a superhero.

SINGHAM pays homage to the action films of 1970s, which was known for the heroism, death-defying action sequences and pulse pounding thrills. It's an acknowledgement to one of the most successful genres of Bollywood -- action movies -- known for the trademark good versus evil themes and well choreographed stunts. Unlike many films recently, SINGHAM revives memories of the bygone era that stressed on raw action and was rich in fist-to-fist combat scenes. In fact, it has traces of action that Ajay's father [Veeru Devgn] and Rohit's father [Shetty] immortalized in their movies. But SINGHAM is a film of today, hence the stunts are extremely stylized and polished in keeping with the times. It's raw power presented in a slick demeanor.

Since the time the first promo of SINGHAM went on air, for some strange reason, I've heard people calling it yet another adaptation of DABANGG. The sole similarity between the two films is that both Salman and Ajay wear uniforms in the film. Also, like DABANGG, it's a hero-villain drama. But beyond these two factors, there's no commonality actually. For those who aren't aware, SINGHAM is the remake of the Tamil hit SINGAM, a role made memorable by the towering talent Suriya.

SINGHAM works for varied reasons: The conflict between the protagonist [Ajay] and antagonist [Prakash Raj], the high quality dramatic scenes, the raw action and of course, it mirrors the viewpoint of the common man on the rampant corruption, fraudulent politicians and spineless goons. In short, SINGHAM works as an entertainer, a complete package and if I may say so, it's Rohit Shetty's best work so far.

The backdrop is Shivgad, a small village on the border of Maharashtra and Goa. The film tells the story of an honest, diligent cop Bajirao Singham [Ajay Devgn], who fights against injustice and prejudice using his own ethics and principles. A sudden strike of destiny sets up Singham against the powerful criminal/politician Jaykant Shikre [Prakash Raj], challenging his morals and beliefs. Jaykant's powerful planning and force makes Singham land up in the ruling city of Jaykant Shikre, where he leaves no stone unturned to make Singham's life a nightmare to live.

Singham's supportive girlfriend Kavya [Kajal Aggarwal] and his tryst with late Rakesh Kadam's family [Sonali Kulkarni] makes him realize the importance to bring a change in the system by eradicating the root cause -- Jaykant Shikre -- by not going against the law of force, but by being a powerful part of it.

Though a remake of a super-successful film, director Rohit Shetty ensures that he keeps a tight rein on the writing of the film throughout those 2 + hours. Oh yes, the hero is spotlessly white and the villain, all black, but despite the fact that you know it all, there's no boring or humdrum moment at all. In fact, the drama and also the execution of the written material keeps you completely hooked to the proceedings. Also, Rohit proves that he can deliver a masala flick with as much ease and proficiency as he can deliver a slapstick comic caper.

I'd like to make a special mention of the action scenes [designed by Rohit Shetty and executed by Jai Singh]. At a time when most film-makers opt for action directors from abroad for gadget-driven thrills, SINGHAM goes for the desi flavor and it works luminously. The raw, hardcore action is easily amongst the high points of the movie. On many occasions than one, you have your hearts in your mouths while watching the scenes and what makes it really special is the fact that Ajay has done those death-defying and hazardous stunts himself.

For any good versus evil film to click, it ought to have the protagonist and the antagonist on the same podium. In SINGHAM too, it's not just the hero who's powerful and mighty; the villain is equally ferocious. That's what makes the conflict all the more enjoyable -- it's a fight of the equals. Besides the sequences involving them, a number of dramatic sequences leave an indelible impression. Like the sequence when Ajay bashes up the goons who misbehave with Kaajal in a movie theatre. Also, the sequence between Ajay and the minister [Anant Jog] is terrific. And, of course, the finale, which is simply outstanding. The writing [screenplay: Yunus Sajawal], in a nutshell, is aimed at the masses and works big time.

But even roses have thorns and the aspect that doesn't really gel is the romance between Ajay and Kaajal. In fact, the romance-and-song routine comes across as a road block and mind you, it has nothing to do with the lack of chemistry between the two actors. It's because the drama is so powerful, commanding and omnipotent that you want every other aspect to be sidetracked. Ajay-Atul, who came up with a lilting soundtrack in the Marathi film NATARANG, don't get the opportunity to deliver a sparkling soundtrack in SINGHAM. Yet, the title track [rendered with a lot of fervor by Sukhwinder] is the sole track that works. Dudley's cinematography is eye-catching. Farhad-Sajid's dialogue are the icing on the cake, especially during the confrontational moments. I'd like to make a special note of Amar Mohile's effectual background score. It deserves immense praise!

The title means 'Lion' and Ajay is in the centre of the battle between good and evil. The embodiment of screen masculinity, Ajay enacts the central character of a righteous, hardhearted cop with flourish. He brings alive on screen a larger-than-life hero character with determined conviction, which renders you thunderstruck. One of the few actors who underplays his part admirably, he returns to the over-the-top-action genre of films with this one. In a nutshell, his performance plays a pivotal role in carrying the film to the winning post.

Kaajal doesn't really get much of an opportunity to prove her talent and the film cannot be regarded as an ideal Bollywood debut for her. However, it's not the amount of screen space that she gets, but it's all about the quality work she delivers in that much time and space. This may be an out-and-out Ajay-Prakash Raj film, but she makes her presence felt nonetheless. Prakash Raj is simply marvelous and in fact, walks shoulder to shoulder with Ajay in dramatic scenes. The film has a number of actors in supporting roles and the ones who register the maximum impact are Sonali Kulkarni, Ashok Saraf and Govind Namdev. Amongst negative characters, Ashok Samarth, Murli Sharma and Anant Jog are most effective. Sudhanshu Pandey leaves a mark in a cameo. Sachin Khedekar's comedy track doesn't work at all.

On the whole, SINGHAM is a full-on masala film that works big time for varied reasons: The energetic drama, the terrific confrontations, the raw stunts and of course, for the three 'heroes' -- Ajay Devgn, Prakash Raj and director Rohit Shetty. It's a complete package of entertainment for the masses and devoted fans of masala movies. This one is sure to roar at the box-office. It has Blockbuster written all over it!

So Finally Kareena Kapoor Replaces Aishwarya Rai in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine

So Finally Kareena Kapoor Replaces Aishwarya Rai in Madhur Bhandarkar's Heroine

Looks like Kareena Kapoor is destined to play Heroine. If Mumbai Mirror is to be believed, Kareena Kapoor is Madhur Bhandarkar's new Heroine. I think Kareena will do justice to the role.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's 'good news' had poured cold water on Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV's dreams of making Heroine. However, like every dark cloud, this too has a silver lining. Kareena Kapoor has finally agreed to step into the shoes left empty by Mrs Jr Bachchan.

On Monday, UTV's CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur and the writer of Heroine Niranjan Iyengar flew down to Hyderabad to meet Kareena who had been spending some time with her boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, who in turn has been shooting for Cocktail with Deepika Padukone at the Ramoji Rao Film City there.

The meeting between the producer, the writer and the actress proved to be quite fruitful. So much so that the actress has now agreed to be a part of the project, with a few conditions of her own.

"Kareena has consented to the snorting, drinking and smoking scenes. Earlier, she had strong reservations against them. Now, she just doesn't want to do the explicit lovemaking scenes with Arjun Rampal and Sudhir Mishra's discovery Arunoday Singh. Those scenes are extremely sexy and Kareena is just not comfortable doing them," informed a source.

And while UTV doesn't want to let go of this opportunity to revive their dream project with Kareena Kapoor, convincing the director Madhur to make changes in his script yet again, proves to be a challenge.

While Madhur Bhandarkar remained unavailable for comments, a source close to the film informed Mumbai Mirror, "Iyengar is very close to Kareena. He knew that this time he would be able to convince her. Both Kapur and Iyengar were very happy after the meeting. They were beaming. Madhur too was happy to learn that Kareena has agreed to do the film."

Kareena, interestingly, happened to be Madhur's choice for the film previously. However, the actress had refused to do it since she felt that the content of the film was too heavy and bold for her. "What can be better than getting your first choice back in the project?" quipped the source when asked about the same.

Siddarth Roy Kapur
Having found his silver lining in Hyderabad, UTV's head honcho Siddharth Roy Kapur stayed on in the city to multiply his happiness. This time with a different leading lady who also happens to be the lady leading his heart.

He extended his visit to be with his ladylove Vidya Balan who is shooting for Ekta Kapoor's Dirty Picture with co-star Emraan Hashmi and director Milan Luthria at the Ramoji Rao Film City in Hyderabad. So after a successful meeting, Kapur dropped by to meet Vidya on the sets of the film based on the life of Silk Smitha.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had left the project after a week's shoot following her father in law's tweet about her pregnancy on June 21. According to industry insiders, it isn't commercially viable for the makers of the film to wait for more than a year for Ash to come back to the project.

Kapur and Bhandarkar remained unavailable for comment. Ditto for Kareena

Shotgun daughter Sonakshi Sinha is in demand, despite being 1 film old. News has it that Shahid Kapoor is keen to work with the lovely Dabangg actress, but Sonakshi is not interested to work with him.

Well, if buzz is to be believed, Sonakshi was the first choice for Pankaj Kapoor’s ‘Mausam’ but the makers felt that Sonakshi-Shahid pair would not look good on screen. She was then replaced by Sonam Kapoor, at the last moment.

Ticking off the Sinha girl, the actress has rejected Shahid’s plea of working with her.

Controversial model Poonam Pandey, who promised to shed her clothes if India won the cricket World Cup but didn't do so, has reportedly been offered a whopping Rs. 2 crore for the next season of "Big Boss" as her presence is expected to add spice and boost TRPs

"Poonam has been offered a signing amount of Rs. 2 crore for 'Big Boss' season five, but the model is considering whether to accept the offer or not," a source closes to the model told IANS.

"Apart from this handsome amount, there is a contract mentioning that an ex-cricketer (one of the contestants) during the show will ask Poonam to fulfill the promise which she made during the World Cup. Because of this clause Poonam is still thinking about the offer," the source added.

The 21-year-old caught the headlines after she said she would strip in the green room if India won the World Cup. India won, but for various reasons Poonam couldn't fulfil her promise.

The model has grabbed a few projects, includng Color's adventure show "Khatron Ke Khiladi 4", and her stay on the show had been non-controversial.
