Actor Nishikant Kamat Lead Role in Rohit Jugraj’s Next Movie

Actor Nishikant Kamat Lead Role in Rohit Jugraj’s Next Movie

John Abraham is in a hurry to start Force 2. It is, after all, his only hit in years. However, it seems the star would have to wait. The project goes nowhere without the Force director Nishikant Kamat. And Kamat is at the moment in the mood to act again.

After a startling sterling performance in Prawal Raman’s 404 last year, Nishikant will now play the central character in Rohit Jugraj’s film exploring a criminal mind.

Kamat will play a twisted mind that treats criminality as an art form. If John Abraham was hoping to cash in on Force’s success, he would have to wait for a while. Quite a while. All that talk of producer Vipul Shah going ahead with the sequel without director Nishikant Kamat if the need arises, has come to a dead-end.
It seems the producer and director have mutually decided to carry the Force franchise forcefully forward only when Nishikant is up to it. Says a source, “Earlier, when Nishikant showed a reluctance to plunge into a sequel, Vipul had emergency talks with John and his team. They all decided to do a sequel right away, with or without Nishikant Kamat. However, now it is felt it’s better to wait.”

This is a case of being once beaten and feeling twice shy for Vipul who after a fall-out with Anees Bazmee over Singh Is Kinng has not been able to get the sequel on the road.

Says Nishikant cautiously, “I don’t think Force 2 is happening without me. Yes, Vipul and I both feel we should go ahead with the sequel together, and only when I have the right script. There’s no point in doing a sequel just for the heck of it. See, Force 2 is exactly in the same situation as Don 2 was after Don. Like Don, Force was a remake. So there was a reference point. Now the characters and the story move forward on their own volition. Let’s see where it goes.”

Kamat admits he is up to another acting offer. “Rohit Jugraj has come up with an interesting idea. I like getting into the acting zone. But filmmaking is my main vocation. Acting can only be a punctuation in my story.”

Ranbir Kapoor Out Of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Chithiyan?

Ranbir Kapoor Out Of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Chithiyan?

Ranbir Kapoor has been in the news since his much appreciated performance in Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar. The latest being that the actor is competing with Shahid Kapoor for the lead role in Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s next project titled Chithiyan. However, Ranbir revealed to Mumbai Mirror that he is not doing the film for sure.

According to media reports, Ranbir and Shahid – the two actors who have been pitted against each other professionally as well as personally, were being considered for the lead role in Chopra’s love triangle saga. While Chopra’s favourite Sharman Joshi, who had worked with the filmmaker in 3 Idiots as well as Ferrari Ki Sawaari, had reportedly been finalised to play one of the male leads in the film, Shahid and Ranbir were contending for the other.

A source close to the film told Mumbai Mirror, “It has not been finalised yet as to who will play the male lead. Vidhu might just zero down on a few other names as well. A decision will be taken on this regard soon enough.”

Reportedly, Vidhu had met Ranbir in Los Angeles and had even narrated the script of Chithiyan to him.

While the leading lady has not been finalised either, Shahid seems to be the only contender for the second male lead at the moment.

However according to our source, this film is not on Chopra’s priority list as of yet. “Currently, he is busy with Ferrari Ki Sawaari. However, soon he will focus his attention on Chithiyan. The film is supposed to go on floors by July 2012,” added the source.

Though Ranbir reverted to our question on whether he was doing Chopra’s film with a curt ‘Nope’, when inquired why he declined the offer, the actor chose not to dwell on it.

On the other hand, while Vidhu Vinod Chopra remained unavailable for comment, a source close to the filmmaker confirmed the news saying, “Yes, Ranbir is not doing Chithiyan. Vidhu and Ranbir mutually decided not to work on this project. Ranbir had some date issues. They would however love to work in the future.”

Bollywood In Anticipation For Rohit Dhawan and Jaanvi Desai Wedding

After Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza get married on February 3, 2012’s next big wedding will be Desi Boyz director Rohit (son of David Dhawan) to Jaanvi Desai, his girfriend of seven years. David’s wife Lally has already sent out e-invites asking people to block their dates from February 10-12 (the wedding will take place in Goa).

Says a source, “Rohit got engaged to Jaanvi (fashion merchandiser) last year. They have been dating for over seven years. There will be a mehndi, sangeet and wedding followed by a reception — all held in Goa. While David is in Goa shooting for Chashme Buddoor he’s also coordinating the wedding arrangements with Lally in Mumbai. It was Rohit’s choice to have a wedding in Goa. He wanted to have a simple court wedding and keep it intimate and small but his parents and brother (Varun who makes his acting debut in Karan Johar’s next), know people in the film industry and they requested him to have a proper Punjabi wedding.”

The guest list is impressive: Shah Rukh, Saif Ali Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Govinda and John Abraham. All of David’s heroes, heroines and producers including Sanjay and Maanayata Dutt, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Krishika and Sunil Lulla, Sajid and Wardha Nadiadwala, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor, Chitrangda Singh and Deepika Padukone have been invited too. “Rohit has invited his close friends from the industry whom he has grown up with like Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor and Ravi Chopra’s sons Abhay and Kapil and people who matter to him. His close friends who studied with him in New York University are also flying down for the wedding. Says Rohit, “I’m happy I am getting married to the girl I have been going around with for the last seven years. I hope marriage makes me a better filmmaker. I just turned 28 and everything is moving so fast!”
